A Midsummer Night’s Dream is Shakespeare’s most popular romantic comedy.
Four Lovers become entangled in a magical forest alongside the feuding King and Queen of the Fairies and a group of Tradesmen rehearsing a play to be performed at the Duke’s wedding to the Queen of the Amazons.
Mischief, mistaken identities, magic potions and Shakespeare’s wit combine to make sense of a topsy turvy world!
“The Dream”, is produced by The Performing Arts for Cyprus Charities which stages an annual production of Shakespeare at the Ancient Kourion Amphitheatre. It features an international cast of children and adults and is directed by Polina Isakharova. Many of the characters and their escapades will be already familiar to audiences: the Lovers – Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena – and their romantic tangle, the Rude Mechanicals, especially Bottom, with their hilarious Pyramus and Thisbe play and the mischievous sprite Puck who alongside Oberon and Titania weave the magic of the forest into the play. What’s not to enjoy!
