What may football, the references to Messi, Ronaldo, Pele and Maradona have to do with the history of humanity itself and the building of modern western societies?
FOOTBALL is a “cruel, bloody comedy”, by Thanassis Triarides, directed by Triantafyllos Delis and starring Sifis Polizoidis, is being presented for the first time in Cyprus. The show – after two very successful seasons in Athens, Thessaloniki and tours in major cities in Greece – will perform at the “Theatro Dentro” (Nicosia) on 6-7 March 2020, presented by MiNIMIS Theater Company and the University Cyprus (University Development and Alumni Relations Office).
FOOTBALL is a caustic monologue with loads of humor, which analyzes the history of mankind through the history of football, starting in 1500 AD.
FOOTBALL (2017) along with LEOPOLD (2017) and HIV (2018) make for an informal political trilogy. The basic point of this trilogy is that we are the spectators of the perpetrators and that it is time to pay a price. The author’s need to write these works was born following his travels to Africa and his desire to talk about the travels of the “well fed” in a “hungry” continent.
