A performance on International Women’s Day

“When we say ‘woman’ it’s like saying sky, wind or earth. however can you narrate the sky, the earth or the sea?”

Marios Ioannou is inspired by the first woman he ever met, his mother. in a tribute to all women, he celebrates their kindness, colourfulness, anarchist nature; characteristics that he first saw in his mother and therefore deeply associates with what being a woman means.

“Womanhood 2” brings to the stage a group of theatre-loving amateurs, following a series of workshops with Marios Ioannou. Together, they put a magnifying glass on some of the parts that comprise women’s immense worlds. Through improvisation and texts from modern and classical theatre, arise the vast, the sweet, the bitter, the anarchist, the sensitive, the wild and tough, but, at its root, the always compassionate character of women.
